Presenter:

Picture this - a worksite cafeteria where healthy options are the more affordable options! In addition, food items are strategically placed, an icon identifies the healthier options, and nutrition information is posted to help consumers make more informed choices.

The Center TRT hosted Anne Thornhill, with NC Prevention Partners (NCPP), on January 24th to share about Healthy Food Environments (HFE). HFE is a component of their Healthy Hospital Initiative, funded by the Duke Endowment in a partnership with the NC Hospital Association, to improve the health environment by promoting healthy eating for employees and visitors in NC hospitals. NCPP has begun to take this model outside of NC, as well, and implementation in other states was discussed.

This hour-long webinar provided a brief overview of Healthy Food Environments (HFE), a pricing policy intervention in worksite settings, posted on the Center TRT website and included the following:

  • a Center TRT overview of the intervention review, including core elements, evidence-base, and public health impact (10 mins)
  • a presentation by intervention developers on the implementation of HFE, including challenges and resources available (40 mins)
  • a Q & A session (10 minutes)
