Obesity Prevention in Public Health Course

The 2011 Obesity Prevention in Public Health Course was a five-day intensive training course that integrated strategies for public policy and environmental change in states and communities to address health equity. The curriculum was designed to enhance the capacity of both new and seasoned leaders of public health nutrition, physical activity and obesity to build and sustain partnerships, promote policy change and mobilize communities.

The Obesity Prevention in Public Health Course is designed for public health practitioners, specifically those who are involved in leading state-level nutrition, physical activity and obesity prevention initiatives at the environmental and policy level. The curriculum best serves professionals in state, and federal- level health agencies; administrators, managers, and educators from voluntary and health professional organizations; individuals affiliated with CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion; state-level Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) staff and others interested in chronic disease prevention.
